Woman killed by brother in property dispute in Suryapet district

Hyderabad: A woman was allegedly murdered by her younger brother in a property dispute in Telangana’s Suryapet district, triggering tension in the area.

The incident took place in Atmakur(S) mandal on Monday morning. Surugi Anjamma had been living in her native village with her younger sister after her husband died. She reportedly had no children.

Family members said Anjamma wanted to transfer her two acres of land to her younger sister. They said the younger sister had been taking care of her. The decision reportedly triggered a property dispute between Anjamma and her younger brother.

Police suspect the accused planned the attack to gain ownership of the property.

Anjamma was on her way to drought relief work around 6.45 am when her brother allegedly attacked her from behind with a knife. He reportedly stabbed her several times.

She died at the spot after suffering severe injuries, according to local reports. Police rushed to the village after receiving information about the attack and started an investigation.

Officials said they were collecting more details related to the property dispute and the murder case.
