Hyderabad: A Telangana Muslims round table will discuss Waqf affairs, minority institutions, welfare and political representation on Sunday.
Tahreek Muslim Shabban will organise the conference at Media Plus in Nizamia Complex, Abids, at 2 pm.
Tahreek Muslim Shabban president Mohammed Mushtaq Mallik will preside over the meeting. Ulema, Mashaikheen, intellectuals and representatives of religious and community organisations will attend.
Social activists will also join the discussions.
The conference comes amid debate within the Muslim community over key minority institutions in Telangana. Participants will examine Waqf property protection, welfare access and administrative transparency.
They will also discuss Muslim representation in political and decision-making structures.
Telangana Muslims round table to examine minority institutions
Participants will raise concerns over several minority institutions. These include the Telangana State Waqf Board, Minorities Finance Corporation, Urdu Academy and Minorities Commission.
The discussions will examine transparency and institutional functioning. Participants will also seek regular meetings and better public access.
Furthermore, they will seek stronger grievance-redressal systems for community members.
Waqf affairs will receive particular attention during the conference. Participants will examine properties facing litigation or alleged encroachment.
They will also discuss legal safeguards for valuable Waqf assets. In addition, they will seek greater disclosure of income and expenditure.
Participants will also call for stronger institutional oversight of Waqf affairs.
Welfare delivery and political representation on agenda
The meeting will examine the performance of minority welfare institutions.
Participants will assess whether these institutions deliver measurable benefits. They will discuss education, employment and self-employment opportunities.
Skill development and economic support will also feature in the discussions.
The Telangana Muslims round table will further address political representation. Participants will discuss the need for experienced and accessible leadership.
Organisers said such leadership should effectively raise community concerns before the government and other decision-making forums.
Mushtaq Mallik said the conference would bring together representatives from different sections of the community. He said the meeting would allow them to exchange views and propose practical measures.
Mallik said the community had high expectations from the deliberations. He also hoped the meeting’s resolutions would guide future efforts on key issues affecting Muslims in Telangana.
The conference will take place at Media Plus, Nizamia Complex, Abids, Hyderabad, at 2 pm on Sunday.
