Telangana leaders pay tributes on Rajiv Gandhi death anniversary

Hyderabad: Several Telangana leaders paid tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary and recalled his contributions to modern India.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu paid floral tributes at Veer Bhumi in New Delhi.

Bhatti Vikramarka described Rajiv Gandhi as a visionary leader who guided India towards the modern technological era. He said Rajiv Gandhi empowered youth by granting voting rights and worked for strengthening democracy and national development.

Further, the Deputy Chief Minister said Congress leaders and workers would continue public service inspired by Rajiv Gandhi’s ideals.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar also paid tributes and described Rajiv Gandhi as the architect of India’s IT revolution.

He said Rajiv Gandhi stood by poor people and laid a strong foundation for the country’s information technology sector.

Meanwhile, Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy remembered Rajiv Gandhi’s role in rural development, telecom expansion and Panchayati Raj reforms.

Kiran Kumar Chamala said undivided Andhra Pradesh witnessed major development under Rajiv Gandhi’s leadership. He said Rajiv Gandhi strengthened decentralisation by empowering nearly 2.5 lakh local bodies across the country.

Further, the MP said Rajiv Gandhi opened the doors for India’s telecom and technology revolution, which transformed millions of lives.

Kiran Kumar Chamala also recalled Rajiv Gandhi’s connection with people of undivided Andhra Pradesh and said his vision for youth, farmers and rural India continued to inspire future generations.
