Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy paid tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary at Tank Bund in Hyderabad.
Several Congress leaders and public representatives also participated in the tribute programme near Rajiv Gandhi’s statue.
Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy demanded that the Centre immediately convene a special Parliament session and introduce the women’s reservation bill in the Lok Sabha.
He warned against using women’s reservations for political purposes. Further, he said the INDIA alliance fully supported the proposal for 33 per cent reservation for women in legislatures.
The Chief Minister said Rajiv Gandhi introduced women’s reservations in the country. He added that legislatures should implement women’s reservations in the spirit of Rajiv Gandhi’s vision.

Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy described Rajiv Gandhi as a visionary who introduced technology to India and brought global recognition to the country.
He said Rajiv Gandhi led the nation on the path of development through economic reforms and modernisation policies.
The Chief Minister also said Telangana shared a deep bond with the Gandhi family. According to him, Sonia Gandhi’s decision played a crucial role in the formation of Telangana.
Further, he said people would remember the Gandhi family as long as Telangana existed.
Revanth Reddy added that the state government was moving forward with Rajiv Gandhi’s inspiration and ideals.
