Hyderabad: Leaders from Telangana’s legislative bodies and political parties paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao on his 21st death anniversary in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Council Members Vani Devi and Bogarapu Dayanand, Legislature Secretary Dr. V. Narasimha Charyulu, and members of Rao’s family offered floral tributes to his portrait at the Assembly building’s lobby.
The leaders described Rao as a pivotal architect of modern India, crediting him with historic economic reforms that reshaped the country’s future.
Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy said Rao had rendered invaluable service to the nation, leading economic reform as Prime Minister. He praised him as a great intellectual, economist, and polyglot.
Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar called Rao an efficient administrator who made Telangana proud by rising to the position of Prime Minister. He said Rao had etched his name in history as both an economist and a reformer. “The country’s ability to withstand today’s economic challenges is due to the reforms initiated by P.V. Narasimha Rao,” he said. He urged the public to follow the path laid by Rao.
BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao also paid floral tributes, describing Rao as “the builder of new India and Telangana’s beloved son.” He said the former Prime Minister’s contributions as a statesman, economist, and reformer remained unforgettable. “The services rendered by PV Narasimha Rao are eternally memorable,” KTR said.
