Telangana fertiliser app draws national attention, says Thummala

Hyderabad: The Telangana fertiliser app has emerged as a model for transparent fertiliser distribution and is attracting attention from other states, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said on Monday.

The minister said the state government introduced the app to improve transparency, efficiency and accountability in fertiliser supply.

He added that several neighbouring states are studying the system and exploring similar platforms for their farmers.

The minister said the Centre has also appreciated the initiative and is moving towards app-based fertiliser distribution through the Fertilisers Scale Application System (FSAS).

Telangana fertiliser app inspires other states

According to Tummala, the Union government plans to implement the FSAS platform on a pilot basis in two districts.

He said the Telangana model has attracted attention for improving stock management and ensuring fair distribution of fertilisers.

Meanwhile, the state government has introduced additional features in the app based on feedback from farmers.

The upgraded platform includes dealer stock verification, mandal mapping and booking facilities.

Farmers can now book fertilisers through MeeSeva centres and telephone services.

In addition, the government has introduced a dedicated helpline to address farmers’ queries.

The minister said the app enables farmers to check fertiliser availability at nearby dealerships through their mobile phones.

As a result, farmers can identify available stocks without visiting multiple shops.

He also said the system has reduced waiting time and improved access to fertilisers during the farming season.

Further, the app helps authorities monitor distribution and prevent irregularities.

On urea supplies, Tummala said the state sought an allocation of six lakh metric tonnes for April, May and June.

He said the government has repeatedly taken up the issue with Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister J.P. Nadda.

According to the minister, 3.89 lakh metric tonnes of urea have already reached the state.

The government is continuing efforts to secure the remaining allocation before the end of June.
