Telangana to support Army recruitment training for local youth, says Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the Telangana government was ready to work with the Indian Army to expand Army recruitment training opportunities for youth across the State.
The Chief Minister made the statement when Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Southern Command, met him at the Bodhi Pavilion in MCR HRD on Wednesday.
Several Army representatives accompanied the Lieutenant General. Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy also attended the meeting.
Revanth Reddy asked the Army to conduct training programmes at suitable district headquarters. The objective was to give more local youth an opportunity to prepare for various Army recruitment drives.
Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar responded positively to the proposal. He said training centres would be established at district headquarters in Telangana ahead of recruitment drives conducted across the country.
The Chief Minister also appreciated the Army’s role during disasters across India. He particularly sought greater Army involvement in rescue operations and rehabilitation efforts during flood emergencies in Telangana.
Revanth Reddy asked the Army to assist in evacuating people from flood-affected areas to safer locations. He also sought a more active role from the Army machinery in relief and rehabilitation operations.
Army recruitment training to expand at district level
Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar said he would instruct local Army authorities to take special initiatives during disaster situations in Telangana.
The discussions also covered the Musi River rejuvenation project. Rajesh Pushkar appreciated the State government’s efforts to revive the Musi with the aim of reducing pollution and restoring the historic character of Hyderabad.
He said cleaning and rejuvenating the Musi River was necessary to protect Hyderabad city.
The meeting also discussed cooperation between the State government and the Army on issues concerning youth opportunities and disaster response.
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s willingness to work with the Army to support Telangana youth seeking recruitment opportunities.
General Officer Commanding Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Major General N. Srinivas Rao and other senior Army officers participated in the meeting.
