Rain alert as Bay of Bengal system threatens Telangana and AP

Hyderabad: The Meteorological Centre issued a rain alert as weather conditions changed over the Bay of Bengal on August 17.

The centre said a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal was turning into a trough. It also said conditions favoured rainfall activity over Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the weather system over the Bay of Bengal changed suddenly, according to the Meteorological Centre. As a result, officials warned of heavy rain in parts of Telangana and AP.

The rain alert Bay of Bengal system also comes as several Telangana districts continue to face rainfall shortages. Deficit rainfall remained in 15 districts across the state.

In addition, rainfall recorded during the previous 24 hours varied across several districts. Mancherial received the highest rainfall among the districts listed by officials.
