Suryapet road accident kills six, Health Minister orders better care

Hyderabad: Six passengers, including five women, died in a Suryapet road accident involving a private travels bus near Durgapuram Stage in Kodad mandal. State Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha expressed shock over the accident and directed officials to provide better medical treatment to the injured.

The six victims comprised five women and one man. Three injured passengers were undergoing treatment at the Kodad Area Hospital following the accident. The minister directed district health officials to ensure that the three patients received appropriate medical care.

Meanwhile, another 11 injured passengers were shifted by ambulances to Vijayawada and Eluru at their request. Health department officials informed Rajanarsimha about the treatment and transfer of the injured over the telephone.

Suryapet road accident leaves 14 injured

The private travels bus met with the accident near Durgapuram Stage in Kodad mandal of Suryapet district. Six passengers died, while at least 14 injured people required medical attention or transportation to hospitals.

Three of them remained under treatment at the Kodad Area Hospital. However, 11 others requested transfer to Vijayawada and Eluru for further treatment. Authorities subsequently transported them by ambulance.

Rajanarsimha asked district medical and health officials to closely monitor the condition of those receiving treatment. He also expressed condolences to the families of the six passengers who died in the Suryapet road accident.

The minister described the loss of lives as deeply painful. Rajanarsimha directed officials to establish the identities of those killed in the accident. He also ordered authorities to complete the post-mortem examinations without unnecessary delay.

Two teams were to be constituted specifically to conduct the post-mortems, according to the minister’s directions. After completing the procedures, officials were asked to hand over the bodies to the victims’ families promptly.

The Health Minister also sought coordination from medical officials in dealing with the injured and the deceased. The Suryapet road accident occurred at Durgapuram Stage in Kodad mandal and involved a private travels bus.

Officials informed the minister that ambulances had already transported 11 injured passengers to Vijayawada and Eluru. Meanwhile, the three other injured passengers continued to receive treatment at the Kodad Area Hospital.

Rajanarsimha directed the medical authorities to ensure proper treatment for all those affected and expedite procedures concerning the six deceased passengers.
