Shabbir Ali highlights sports development in Telangana at Nizamabad league

Hyderabad: Advisor to Telangana Government Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Saturday said the State was giving priority to sports development Telangana while inaugurating the Nizamabad Premier League competitions.

Speaking at the event in Nizamabad, he said the sports development Telangana initiative focused on nurturing talent from grassroots to international levels. The competitions, organised under the Nizamabad Security Council, were held from April 20 to 28.

The league featured events including cricket, volleyball, kabaddi, basketball, and yoga. Shabbir Ali inaugurated the competitions by lighting the sports torch and received a ceremonial salute from athletes.

Sports development Telangana driven by grassroots programmes

Shabbir Ali said the government was implementing multiple programmes to strengthen sports development Telangana. He said such leagues encouraged sportsmanship and participation among youth.

He said sports improved physical fitness and also built discipline, unity, and leadership qualities. Moreover, he added that structured competitions helped identify and train talented players.

Highlighting future plans, he said the Chief Minister was focusing on establishing a sports university with international standards. He said the institution would provide scientific training and modern facilities for athletes.

Sports development Telangana backed by infrastructure push

Shabbir Ali said the government was allocating funds to expand infrastructure under sports development Telangana. He said stadiums, coaching centres, and gymnasiums were being developed in every district.

He added that the government aimed to secure the future of sportspersons through financial incentives and employment opportunities. These measures, he said, would strengthen long-term participation in sports.

Suryanarayana, Mayor Uma Rani, and Police Commissioner Sai Chaitanya attended the event. Dr Kavitha, public representatives, sports association members, youth, and athletes also participated in large numbers.

Shabbir Ali appreciated the organisers for conducting the event and extended his wishes to participants.
