Minister Vivek Venkatswamy vows support for cricket stadium in Kotapalli

Hyderabad: Labour and Mining Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy on Thursday assured efforts to secure forest clearance for the construction of a cricket stadium in Kotapalli. He made this assurance while attending a local tournament prize distribution event in Chennur district.

Speaking at the event held at Kotapalli mandal headquarters, the Minister stressed the importance of sports in promoting discipline, team spirit, and leadership. He said cricket remains one of India’s most loved sports and is played from the grassroots to the national level. Furthermore, he highlighted the abundance of local talent across regions.

Cricket stadium in Kotapalli gets ministerial backing

Dr. Vivek recalled that cricket tournaments were held across Telangana in memory of his late father, Kaka Venkatswamy. He also said he had worked to promote young talent during his tenure as Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president. In particular, he placed focus on sponsorship support.

The Minister distributed prizes to the finalists of a cricket tournament held in memory of Puranam Ramakrishnaiah. Kotapalli team took home the first prize, while Gorlapalli finished runners-up. Moreover, he congratulated former MLC Puranam Satish for organising the well-executed event. He expressed pride that two players from Kotapalli had already represented Telangana at the Under-19 level.

He promised to follow up with Forest and Revenue officials to obtain the necessary permissions for a cricket stadium in the region.

The event saw participation from former MLC Puranam Satish, DCC President Raghunath Reddy, local leaders, players, and sports enthusiasts.
