SIR-2026 voter verification must be error-free, Telangana CEO tells officials
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy on Wednesday directed officials to complete SIR-2026 voter verification in Rangareddy district transparently and without errors.
He asked officials to strictly follow Election Commission guidelines during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Moreover, he stressed that officials should prevent the unwarranted deletion of any eligible voter.
Sudarshan Reddy inspected the field-level SIR process along with District Election Officer and Collector C. Narayana Reddy. They visited the Nagole ward office, Kurshi Colony and Satavahana Nagar Community Hall on Wednesday.
During the inspection, the CEO reviewed verification of voter details and mapping with old electoral rolls. He also examined cases under the No Mapping and Anomalies categories.
The CEO asked officials to give special attention to these categories. At the same time, he directed them to carefully examine ineligible voters, duplicate entries and address changes under prescribed rules.
SIR-2026 voter verification requires accurate records
Sudarshan Reddy directed officials to complete all pending field-level work within the stipulated deadline. He also asked them to properly record every application, objection, notice and file disposal.
Where necessary, officials should issue notices to the voters concerned. Subsequently, they should consider objections and explanations according to the prescribed rules. The CEO also placed responsibility on every Booth Level Officer and other field staff to scrutinise voter details within their jurisdictions.
In addition, he asked officials to give the highest priority to accuracy during door-to-door verification. They should maintain the same standard while examining documents, entering data and completing mapping.
The directions came as Telangana continued its SIR exercise. Earlier this week, Sudarshan Reddy had also directed election officials to expedite pending cases and resolve anomalies and mapping issues.
SIR-2026 voter verification issues need quick resolution
The CEO asked field staff to immediately report technical or operational problems to senior officials. He said authorities should resolve such issues without delay. Meanwhile, officials from different levels should work in coordination and efficiently complete every stage of the exercise.
Sudarshan Reddy also called for continuous monitoring to ensure completion within the prescribed timeframe. The CEO has recently stressed transparency and accuracy during SIR-related scrutiny. During an earlier inspection, he asked election officials to strictly follow procedures while examining unmapped voters and discrepancies.
LB Nagar ERO and Zonal Commissioner Vikas Mahato participated in Wednesday’s field inspection. Other election officials, BLOs and staff also took part.
