SCR GM inspects Cherlapally terminal, opens new crew facilities

Hyderabad: South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava on Friday inspected the newly developed Cherlapally Railway Station. He also inaugurated vital crew facilities aimed at boosting operational efficiency and staff welfare.

He was accompanied by Dr. R. Gopalakrishnan, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division, along with senior officials. The Cherlapally terminal is part of SCR’s initiative to improve passenger connectivity and ease pressure on Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda stations. In fact, it was built at a cost of ₹413 crore.

During the visit, the GM inaugurated the Running Room and Crew Lobby, equipped with advanced operational features for Loco Pilots, Assistant Loco Pilots, and Train Managers. The Running Room includes computerized bed allocation, air-conditioning, dedicated accommodation for women, yoga and meditation spaces, an RO plant, and modular kitchen. In addition, the Crew Lobby features a digital Crew Management System and improved rest and refreshment spaces.

Srivastava also inspected the Intermediate Overhauling (IOH) Shed at the terminal and reviewed the coach maintenance setup. He discussed expansion plans and evaluated the alignment of a proposed new entry point at Platform No.1.

As part of the visit, he inspected the Amrit Bharat train rake stationed at Cherlapally and reviewed recent passenger amenity upgrades. The visit concluded with a tree plantation drive near the Running Room. This act underlines SCR’s focus on environmental sustainability.
