SCR bags six awards for energy efficiency at CII summit

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) has secured six awards at the 27th CII National Excellence in Energy Management 2026 for its energy conservation initiatives across railway establishments.

The Confederation of Indian Industry presented the awards at the CII Energy Efficiency Summit at Hyderabad International Convention Centre on Friday.

Kacheguda Railway Station received the “Excellent Energy Efficient Unit” award. Five other SCR establishments were recognised as “Energy Efficient Units”.

They are Lekha Bhavan, Central Hospital at Lallaguda and the Zonal Railway Training Institute at Moula Ali. Rail Bogie Karkhana at Yadgir and the Signal & Telecom Workshop at Mettuguda also received the recognition.

Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Hyderabad Division Rama Rao and other senior railway officers received the awards.

SCR attributed the recognition to energy efficiency and green initiatives implemented across its divisions, workshops and field units. Officials said departments across the zone had contributed to the conservation efforts.

Energy efficiency awards recognise SCR initiatives

The railway zone said its initiatives focused on improving energy efficiency and promoting conservation across its establishments. Sustainable practices have also been adopted as part of the measures.

According to SCR, these efforts are intended to reduce energy consumption and promote environmentally responsible railway operations.

SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava congratulated the railway team on receiving the national recognition.

He also appreciated the efforts of the Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Divisional Railway Managers and other officials involved in the initiatives.

Srivastava said South Central Railway remained committed to energy conservation and efficient energy management across its operations.
