Hyderabad: A retired army man foiled a chain snatching attempt in Amberpet by overpowering the accused, prompting Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar to honour him.
The Commissioner felicitated Chirrla Ramudu at the old Commissionerate office in Basheer Bagh. He presented him with a shawl and a cash reward in recognition of his bravery.
The incident occurred on April 14 near an Iranian hotel bus stop in Amberpet. As Ramudu got down from the bus, the accused tried to snatch his gold chain.
However, despite his age, Ramudu resisted the attacker and caught hold of him. He then immediately alerted Dial 100.
