Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Thursday dismissed widespread social media rumours about a rise in chain-snatching cases, calling them false and meant to spread fear.
Commissioner urges public to ignore fake posts
Sajjanar said posts linking higher gold prices to more chain-snatchings and claims about interstate gangs operating in the city had no basis in fact. He asked people not to forward such misleading or panic-driven messages.
“Please don’t share unverified or fear-spreading content,” he said. “Those trying to scare people with false news will face strict legal action.”
Police assure full safety in Hyderabad
Sajjanar reassured residents that Hyderabad continues to be safe and peaceful. He urged everyone to support law enforcement in keeping the city secure. For any concern, he asked citizens to call Dial 100.
“Be assured. Your safety is our duty,” he said.
