Revanth Reddy seeks Defence Ministry support for Adilabad Airport expansion

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy sought the Centre’s support for Adilabad Airport expansion during a meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi.

The Chief Minister met the Union Minister at Kartavya Bhavan and discussed several infrastructure and defence-related projects concerning Telangana.

Revanth Reddy thanked Rajnath Singh for transferring Defence Ministry land for the Gandhi Sarovar project under the Musi Riverfront Development initiative.

He also assured the Centre of full cooperation in land acquisition and utility shifting for the proposed airport project.

The Chief Minister said the Indian Air Force-led airport project holds strategic importance for national security and regional development.

Adilabad Airport expansion to include cargo and MRO facilities

Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy urged the Defence Minister to support the development of comprehensive infrastructure at the airport.

He sought assistance for establishing a civil aviation terminal alongside the Indian Air Force terminal.

The Chief Minister also proposed large-scale cargo, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and hangar facilities at the airport.

He said several international airlines are exploring suitable locations for hangar facilities in view of recent developments in Central Asia.

According to the Chief Minister, Adilabad offers favourable conditions for such aviation infrastructure.

He requested the Centre to develop the airport accordingly and maximise its potential.

Further, Revanth Reddy urged Rajnath Singh to expedite approval for a key DRDO project proposed near Devarakadra in Mahabubnagar district.

He noted that DRDO and DRDL had identified the location for the project and sought an early clearance from the Union government.

Senior state government officials also attended the meeting.
