Ramchander Rao blames Congress for farmers deaths in Mancherial

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Wednesday blamed the Congress government for the deaths of three farmers in Luxettipet mandal of Mancherial district during heavy rains at grain procurement centres.

Rao alleged that delays in crop procurement forced farmers to stay at procurement centres for several weeks, exposing them to severe weather conditions.

In a strongly worded statement, Rao described the incident as a result of “administrative failure and incompetence”. He accused the state government of failing to protect farmers at procurement centres during heavy rains and strong winds.

He expressed condolences to the families of Gundarapu Venkatesh, Tanugula Abhiram, and Lachanna, who reportedly died while trying to protect their produce from the rain.

Farmers deaths spark criticism over procurement delays

Rao said it was tragic that farmers who feed the nation were dying while safeguarding their crops. He stated that the incident reflected the failure of the Congress government in Telangana.

The BJP leader questioned why procurement operations faced delays despite financial support from the Centre.

He said the Union government had already provided Minimum Support Price support along with funds for labour, transport, and related procurement expenses.

Farmers deaths issue raises compensation demand

Ramchander Rao demanded immediate compensation for the families of the deceased farmers.

He also urged the state government to complete grain procurement on a war-footing basis to prevent further hardship for farmers across Telangana.

The BJP continued attacking the Congress government over procurement delays and issues faced by farmers in several districts.
