Radhakrishnan calls Satya Sai Baba ‘Great Emissary of God’

Hyderabad: Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Sunday described Sri Sathya Sai Baba as “a Great Emissary of God, of peace, love, and selfless service,” during the spiritual leader’s centenary celebrations in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh. He said Baba’s teachings and service transcended barriers of caste, religion, and nationality.

Radhakrishnan highlighted Baba’s core messages—“Love All, Serve All” and “Help Ever, Hurt Never”—as guiding principles. These defined both his mission and impact. Drawing from the saint-poet Thiruvalluvar’s Kural, the Vice-President said Sri Sathya Sai Baba embodied the highest ideals of selfless service.

He emphasised that the spiritual leader’s teachings of Sathya (truth), Dharma (righteousness), Shanthi (peace), Prema (love), and Ahimsa (non-violence) remain vital for a harmonious and progressive society. He urged people to embrace Baba’s call for replacing selfishness with sacrifice, especially in today’s climate of uncertainty.

The Vice-President also asserted that truth, duty, and empathy should guide public life. These align with the values Baba espoused throughout his lifetime.

Praising the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Radhakrishnan said its initiatives in healthcare, education, and disaster relief continue to uplift communities. He lauded the Trust’s Mobile Rural Health Services. Moreover, the fee-free educational institutions serve as models of values-based outreach.

He noted Baba’s crucial role in reviving the Telugu Ganga canal project to ensure drinking water for Chennai. This is a lasting example of how love through service can bring social transformation.

Marking the centenary, Radhakrishnan called on citizens and devotees to honour Baba’s legacy by fostering peace and helping the needy in their own communities.
