PUBG addiction drives Class 10 student to suicide in Bhainsa

Hyderabad: A tenth-class student addicted to the mobile game PUBG died by suicide in Anandnagar Colony of Bhainsa town, Nirmal district. Police said the 15-year-old had been struggling with compulsive gaming habits after completing Class IX.

The boy, identified as Reshendra, was the son of Beti Santosh and Saipraja, natives of Moula Ali in Hyderabad who had been residing in Bhainsa for business purposes. Reshendra was due to join Class X at a Hyderabad school but had stayed back with his family.

According to relatives, the teenager had been addicted to PUBG for several months. In an effort to make him focus on studies, his parents restricted his access to the game in recent days. Unable to cope with the restriction, he reportedly went into depression and hanged himself at home on Wednesday evening.

The body was shifted to the local government hospital for post-mortem. Bhainsa town police registered a case based on a complaint from the family and initiated further investigation.
