Hyderabad: Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Thursday demanded the expulsion of BJP MP Tejasvi Surya from Parliament over his remarks on Telangana. He also asked Surya to withdraw the comments and apologise to the people of Telangana.
Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Prabhakar said Congress leaders would soon file a formal complaint with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. He added that they would urge the Speaker to remove Surya from his MP post and expel him from Parliament.
Prabhakar further demanded that officials expunge Surya’s remarks from parliamentary records. He said the comments insulted the self-respect of Telangana people and the martyrs.

Moreover, Prabhakar said the BJP MP’s remarks affronted the Constitution and the parliamentary system. He alleged that Surya spoke “without wisdom and in sheer ignorance”.
“It is a truly deplorable situation one that would make Mother Telangana weep—that while the bills passed in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for the formation of the state are insulted, the eight BJP MPs from Telangana sit and listen with shamelessness and apparent enjoyment,” he said.
Meanwhile, Prabhakar said the Prime Minister should take cognisance of the issue. He added that they had already sent an email to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the matter.
