Harish slams BJP MP over comparison of Telangana formation

Hyderabad: BRS MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao on Thursday criticised BJP MP Tejasvi Surya over Telangana formation remarks comparing the State’s creation with the India-Pakistan partition.

In a statement, Harish Rao said the Telangana formation remarks ignored the decades-long struggle behind statehood. He added that thousands of students, youth, employees and citizens had made sacrifices.

He said the formation remarks reflected an inability to accept the State’s constitutional formation. Therefore, he described the comments as arrogant and unacceptable.

“Tejaswi’s arrogant comments are the proof that BJP is unable to tolerate the constitutionally formed Telangana state,” Harish Rao said.

Telangana formation remarks draw strong response

Harish Rao said the Telangana formation distorted the history of the movement. He noted that the State emerged after sustained public struggle and democratic processes.

He said such comments undermined the sacrifices made during the agitation. Moreover, he added that people would not accept attempts to misrepresent the movement.

Harish Rao demanded that the BJP leadership respond immediately to the Telangana formation. He asked the party to clearly state its position.

He said failure to respond would lead people to believe that the remarks reflected the party’s official stance. Furthermore, he warned that silence would raise concerns among the public.
