Vakiti Srihari seeks apology over Telangana remarks by Tejasvi Surya

Hyderabad: Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Sports Vakiti Srihari on Thursday demanded an apology from BJP MP Tejasvi Surya over the Telangana remarks controversy, condemning his statements on the state’s bifurcation.

Vakiti Srihari said the Telangana remarks controversy arose from irresponsible comments that ignored the constitutional process behind Telangana’s formation. He stressed that Parliament approved the state under the Indian Constitution.

He described the formation as a historic democratic achievement rooted in decades of struggle and sacrifice. Moreover, he said the Telangana remarks controversy showed a lack of awareness about the sacrifices made during the movement.

Telangana remarks controversy exposes BJP double standards

Vakiti Srihari said it was distressing to hear such remarks from a public representative who appeared unaware of Telangana’s history. He criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party, stating that such comments exposed its double standards.

He also argued that leaders of the ruling party at the Centre must act responsibly in public. According to him, the Telangana remarks controversy reflected inconsistency in the BJP’s stance.

Furthermore, he said Telangana has emerged as a model state in development. However, he added that such remarks cannot hinder its progress.

Vakiti Srihari reiterated that the Telangana remarks controversy required immediate corrective action. He demanded that Tejasvi Surya withdraw his statements without delay.

In addition, he called for an unconditional apology to the people of Telangana. He said any attempt to undermine the state’s formation would face firm opposition.

Finally, the Minister emphasised that Telangana symbolises democratic values and collective sacrifice. He added that such achievements must be respected.
