Hyderabad: Minister for Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy directed district collectors to conduct weekly reviews to speed up implementation of the Indiramma housing scheme on April 27.
The Indiramma housing scheme will see decentralised powers, as the Minister assigned greater responsibility to collectors for faster and transparent execution. He also said special officers would be appointed for each erstwhile district to address issues at the ground level.
Indiramma housing scheme to get weekly monitoring
During a review meeting at the Housing Corporation head office in Hyderabad, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy instructed officials to prioritise the Indiramma housing scheme and hold weekly reviews with housing staff.
The meeting included elected representatives and officials from the erstwhile Nizamabad and Adilabad districts. In-charge ministers, MPs, MLCs, MLAs, district collectors and housing officials attended the session.
Constituency-wise discussions took place, and the Minister addressed issues raised by public representatives. He issued directions immediately to ensure smoother implementation.
He stated that under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Indiramma housing scheme would continue as an ongoing process. He added that even those who had not applied earlier could now apply and receive houses if found eligible.
The Minister said 3,500 houses were sanctioned per constituency without political bias. He urged MLAs to take initiative to ensure timely construction under the Indiramma housing scheme.
He directed officials to reassign houses if beneficiaries failed to construct them. Meanwhile, he instructed them to release pending payments immediately after completion of the basement stage, especially where technical delays occurred.
Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy also stressed a humanitarian approach in welfare matters concerning the poor. He ordered completion of unfinished double-bedroom houses taken up by the previous government, along with basic amenities such as drinking water, electricity and drainage.
He further directed immediate allotment of these units to beneficiaries, regardless of construction stage.
Ministers Seethakka, Jupally Krishna Rao and G Vivek, along with advisors P Sudarshan Reddy, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Mohammad Shabbir Ali, attended the meeting. Senior officials, including D S Lokesh Kumar and V P Gautam, were also present.
