Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) assured students that polytechnic students concerns would receive top priority in the Assembly session beginning September 7. He said the party would press the government for a clear response on their demands.
A group of polytechnic students met KTR near Mahatma Gandhi University and submitted a representation detailing their grievances. The meeting took place while KTR was travelling to attend a programme in Miryalaguda.
The students raised concerns about polytechnic college lands and the future of their institutions. They also highlighted issues related to the condition and direction of technical education in the state.
KTR assured them that he would strongly take up their issues when the Assembly met. Moreover, he said he would continue pressing the matter until the government provided a clear response. He also sought clarity from the government on the demands raised by the students.
Polytechnic students concerns over college lands
KTR expressed concern over what he described as the government’s alleged interest in valuable lands occupied by polytechnic colleges. Instead, he said authorities should prioritise the future of students and strengthen technical education.
He argued that protecting students’ interests should remain central while dealing with matters concerning polytechnic institutions. At the same time, he stressed the need to improve technical education so students could gain stronger skills and practical experience.
KTR also suggested examining technical education systems followed in countries such as Germany. In particular, he cited dual education programmes, apprenticeships and practice-oriented learning as models worth adopting.
According to KTR, such approaches could equip students with better technical skills. They could also give students greater exposure to practical learning alongside their formal education.
“There is no need for students to worry. The BRS will strongly raise your issues in the Assembly,” KTR told the delegation.
He reiterated that polytechnic students concerns would be strongly presented in the Assembly. He also assured the students that the BRS would seek a definite response from the government on the issues they had raised.
