Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Tuesday demanded police recruitment age relaxation for Sub-Inspector and constable posts in Telangana. Kavitha urged the State government to raise the upper age limit to 38 years for SI posts. She also sought an increase to 36 years for constable posts.
She said the proposed relaxation would benefit another two to three lakh unemployed youth. According to her, delays in recruitment notifications had pushed many aspirants beyond the existing upper age limit.
Kavitha said unemployed youth had played a key role in bringing the Congress to power in Telangana. She said they had worked extensively across villages and campaigned for the party. However, she alleged that the government had not issued adequate job notifications nearly three years after assuming office.
Police recruitment age relaxation sought after delays
Kavitha said the government had issued GO No. 31 in 2024, indicating that a constable recruitment notification would follow. However, she alleged that the promised police recruitment age relaxation had not been implemented.
As a result, many job aspirants had crossed the upper age limit and lost eligibility, she claimed. Kavitha also cited the number of applications received for SI and constable recruitment. She said such recruitment would normally attract around nine lakh applications.
However, only three to four lakh applications had been received this time, she said. Kavitha attributed the lower number to the government’s failure to increase the upper age limit.
She therefore urged the government to act immediately and revise the eligibility limits. The change, she said, would allow more unemployed youth to compete for SI and constable posts.
