Hyderabad: Police busted a Counterfeit currency racket operating from a house in Devaruppula mandal and booked four persons after seizing fake currency, printing equipment, cash and other material during a raid.
Acting on credible information that counterfeit notes were being printed at the residence of Chinta Sudarshan in Devaruppula mandal headquarters, Sub-Inspector Srujan Kumar led a police team to the location and conducted a search.
Police arrested Syed Rasool of Jagtial district, Bashipaka Anjaiah of Kadavendi village in Devaruppula mandal, house owner Chinta Sudarshan and Gopal Das Laxmaiah of Bandakothapalli village in Gundala mandal.
Counterfeit currency racket uncovered during raid
During the search, police seized a printer, 150 sheets carrying one-sided prints of fake ₹500 currency notes, eight bundles of black paper, a Breeza car, ₹85,000 in cash and four mobile phones.
Officials said each sheet contained four images of ₹500 notes. The seized counterfeit notes had a face value of about ₹3 lakh. Police registered a case against the four accused and produced them before Wardhannapet Circle Inspector Srinivasa Rao, who initiated remand proceedings.
Counterfeit currency racket poses security threat
Police warned that counterfeit currency offences pose a serious threat to national security. They urged the public not to support or participate in such illegal activities. Officials also cautioned that anyone involved in similar crimes would face strict legal action under the law.
