Hyderabad: Police solved the Pahadishareef burglary case within two days of its registration and recovered stolen gold and silver ornaments worth about ₹26 lakh from a 20-year-old accused.
The accused, Akumalla Baba Peer alias Baba, an AC mechanic from Raviryala village in Maheshwaram mandal of Rangareddy district, was arrested on June 7 based on technical evidence and specific information developed during the investigation.
Police recovered 166 grams of gold ornaments, 257 grams of silver articles and a screwdriver allegedly used in the offence.
The case was registered as Crime No. 349/2026 under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Pahadishareef Police Station.
Pahadishareef burglary case traced through investigation
According to police, complainant Nenavath Mallikarjun locked his house on June 2 and left with his family for his native village, Sunnapu Thanda in Kollapur.
When the family returned on June 4, they found the bedroom almirah lock broken and the locker opened. They discovered that gold ornaments weighing about 17 tolas, including chains, bangles, earrings, rings and a gold biscuit, were missing.
The burglars also stole silver articles, including silver biscuits and a pair of silver patta golusu. Furthermore, the family noticed that someone had removed the ventilation glass panes in the pooja room to gain entry into the house.
Police launched an investigation immediately after receiving the complaint. Subsequently, investigators analysed technical evidence and identified the suspect.
Pahadishareef burglary case reveals repeat method
During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed that he targeted locked houses during night hours. He reportedly moved around residential colonies and monitored public movement before selecting houses.
Police said he entered homes by removing ventilation glass panes. He then used a screwdriver to break open almirah lockers and steal valuables.
After committing the thefts, he allegedly sold the stolen ornaments to unknown persons at different locations in Hyderabad. He reportedly spent the proceeds on personal expenses.
The arrest and recovery were carried out under the supervision of ACP V. Srikanth Goud and Inspector B. Lakshminarayana Reddy along with officers and staff of Pahadishareef Police Station.
Senior officers appreciated the police team for detecting the case quickly and recovering the stolen property.
