Hyderabad: AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi welcomed the Telangana Family Register decision, saying the new Family Register Certificate would help poor and undocumented people by providing an accepted document through the MeeSeva platform.
Owaisi described the State government’s decision as a welcome move. Further, he said citizens could obtain the Family Register Certificate through MeeSeva by paying a service charge of ₹62.
He said he had submitted a representation to the government along with AIMIM leader Faheem Qureshi seeking the introduction of the certificate. According to Owaisi, the government responded with a timely decision.
Telangana Family Register to aid document verification
Owaisi said the Family Register Certificate is one of the 12 acceptable documents under the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision. Therefore, he said it would benefit many poor and undocumented people if they receive notices during the verification process.
Moreover, he expressed hope that eligible citizens would make use of the new facility. He also thanked the Telangana government for introducing the service.
The Telangana government recently approved the Telangana Family Register to create a State-wide electronic record of family composition. In addition, it introduced the Family Register Certificate as a new citizen service through the MeeSeva platform.
Under G.O. Ms. No. 172, the certificate will contain verified details of the head of the family, family members, their relationship, age, gender, Aadhaar particulars and address drawn from the Food Security Card database.
Meanwhile, any adult family member whose details appear in the register can apply through a MeeSeva centre, the online portal or the mobile application by paying the prescribed service charge. The Tahsildar will verify eligible applications and approve them digitally. MeeSeva will then make the certificate available for download. The government fixed a service delivery timeline of two working days from the date of receiving the application.
