Maternal and child health services in Telangana earn Rs 200 crore central incentive

Hyderabad: Maternal and child health services in Telangana received national recognition after the Central government sanctioned an additional Rs 200 crore as an incentive. The allocation recognised the Telangana Health Department’s performance in strengthening healthcare for mothers and newborns. It also acknowledged the efforts of the state’s public health workforce.

The state government said the incentive reflected the collective work of Health Department staff, doctors, nurses, ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers. Accordingly, it described the allocation as recognition of their contribution to improving healthcare services across Telangana.

The government said its priority remained providing quality medical care to every pregnant woman, every mother and every newborn. Moreover, it stated that the additional funding would help reduce maternal and neonatal deaths. It would also improve healthcare services in government hospitals throughout the state.

Central incentive to strengthen maternal and child health

In addition, the government said the incentive funds would strengthen healthcare infrastructure across the state. The allocation would improve care for mothers and newborns. Meanwhile, it would expand access to quality medical services in government hospitals.

The state government said it would continue improving healthcare standards for women and children. Furthermore, it reaffirmed its commitment to delivering high-quality medical services. It also pledged to strengthen the public health system.

Finally, the government said sustained efforts would continue to position Telangana among the country’s leading states in healthcare for mothers and newborns.
