Hyderabad: BRS leader Manne Krishank was arrested in connection with a case registered by the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police. Police subsequently took him to Gandhi Hospital for a medical examination.
The case was registered on October 5 following a complaint lodged by Congress leader Mettu Saikumar. The FIR named Krishank, MR Media Telangana and others as accused. Police invoked Sections 353(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in the case.
BRS leaders linked Manne Krishank’s arrest to his statements concerning Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s family. They alleged that the government targeted him for raising questions about business dealings and alleged financial irregularities.
The party also accused the government of using the police machinery against an opposition leader. The source material did not provide a response from the government to the BRS allegations.
BRS links Manne Krishank’s arrest to corruption allegations
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao strongly condemned the case against Krishank. He alleged that cases were being filed because Krishank had questioned the Chief Minister over alleged corruption.
In a social media post, KTR accused the government of attempting to suppress the opposition’s voice. He said the BRS would continue raising allegations against the Congress government despite the cases.
KTR maintained that the party would not stop its campaign irrespective of the number of cases filed. He also said the BRS would make further revelations. The BRS working president said the party would continue its campaign against what it alleged was corruption in the Congress government.
Party leaders maintained that Manne Krishank’s arrest followed his allegations concerning the Chief Minister’s family. However, the source material did not provide details of the specific allegations or evidence cited by Krishank. The cyber crime case remained based on the complaint lodged by Mettu Saikumar. The FIR named Krishank and others and invoked the two BNS provisions.
