Malaysia Airlines campaign film brings cricket to skies

Hyderabad: Malaysia Airlines and Mumbai Indians unveiled a new campaign film on May 7, 2026, bringing cricket fandom to 30,000 feet through a mid-air fan experience.

The Malaysia Airlines campaign film, titled “Cricket at 30,000 Feet,” presented the airline’s Malaysian Hospitality alongside the passion of Mumbai Indians supporters. Moreover, it marked another brand activity under the partnership between the airline and the IPL franchise.

The film followed a young Mumbai Indians fan whose routine journey turned into a memorable in-flight cricket experience. Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Trent Boult joined the fan in the campaign film. Therefore, the film placed the spirit of cricket in an unexpected setting and linked fan energy with travel.

Malaysia Airlines said the campaign reflected its continued commitment to the Indian market. It also showed the airline’s plan to connect with customers through culturally relevant storytelling, premium experiences and meaningful partnerships.

Bryan Foong, Chief Executive Officer of Airline Business at Malaysia Aviation Group, said India was one of the airline’s most important growth markets. He said cricket connected millions across India and beyond.

Foong said the partnership with Mumbai Indians gave Malaysia Airlines a platform to engage fans in a natural and culturally meaningful way. He added that the campaign brought Malaysian Hospitality into that conversation while strengthening brand affinity, supporting travel demand and building commercial relevance in a key market.

A Mumbai Indians spokesperson said the film showed how love for the team travelled beyond boundaries. The spokesperson said seeing that emotion aboard a Malaysia Airlines flight, with Mumbai Indians players involved, made it a special moment. Further, the spokesperson said the partnership continued to find creative ways to bring the team closer to fans.

Malaysia Airlines campaign film builds on Mumbai Indians partnership

Malaysia Airlines is the Official Global Airline Partner and Associate Sponsor of Mumbai Indians. Its branding also appeared on the team jersey.

Since the partnership began, both brands carried out several fan-focused activations. These included a Mumbai Indians-themed A330-300 aircraft livery, in-stadium experiences at Wankhede Stadium and digital content collaborations during the season.

After a successful first season together, Malaysia Airlines and Mumbai Indians said they remained committed to creating memorable fan experiences on the ground and in the skies.
