Hyderabad: BRS working president KTR rejected the assets allegation against KCR and his family and challenged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over the claim. He offered to transfer their properties for Rs 1,000 crore and asked the government to use the remaining amount for its promises.
KTR made the remarks after appearing before the Nampally court on Friday in connection with the Formula E-car race case. Speaking to the media after the hearing, he accused Revanth Reddy of spreading false claims about KCR’s family.
KTR referred to an allegation that KCR and his family had acquired land worth Rs 1 lakh crore. He challenged Revanth Reddy to pay Rs 1,000 crore for all their properties.
KTR said he was ready to sign wherever required to transfer the properties for that amount. He asked the government to use the remaining Rs 99,000 crore to fulfil its commitments in Telangana.
The BRS leader also referred to KCR’s land at Erravalli, about 75 kilometres from Hyderabad. He said KCR had purchased the land around 15 to 20 years ago. According to KTR, land then cost around Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh per acre.
KTR also questioned earlier claims about the extent of KCR’s landholdings. He said allegations had previously referred to 10,000 acres and a 1,000-acre farmhouse. However, he said 67 acres had been mentioned in the Assembly.
Assets allegation draws challenge over welfare promises
KTR demanded an explanation about the remaining 933 acres mentioned in his comparison. He also demanded an apology to KCR and challenged Revanth Reddy to establish the Rs 1 lakh crore claim.
The BRS leader compared the assets allegation with previous political claims concerning Kaleshwaram and Pragathi Bhavan. He accused his political opponents of repeatedly targeting KCR and his family through such allegations.
KTR then linked his Rs 99,000 crore challenge to promises made by the Congress government. He referred to fee reimbursement and financial assistance promised to Dalits and tribal communities.
He said the government had promised Rs 12 lakh assistance after the previous government provided Rs 10 lakh under Dalit Bandhu. KTR also referred to a similar Rs 12 lakh promise for tribal beneficiaries.
KTR further cited the promise of Rs 2,500 assistance for women. He also challenged the government over its commitment to waive farm loans of up to Rs 2 lakh.
The BRS leader separately accused the government of irregularities involving lands under 22A. He alleged that lands were being placed on a prohibited list as part of a scheme involving 30% commissions. These allegations were not supported with evidence in the supplied remarks.
KTR claimed the attacks on KCR’s assets were intended to divert attention from the 22A issue. He said the government could order inquiries, appoint commissions and file cases, while BRS would face them.
KTR also criticised Revanth Reddy’s governance and questioned his performance in office. He urged the Chief Minister to focus on delivering the government’s promises during the remainder of his tenure.
