Hyderabad: Police arrested BRS leader Manne Krishank over an alleged controversial social media post and later shifted him to the CCS. The Manne Krishank arrest followed a case registered against him over the post on X.
The post concerned a case registered at Saifabad police station against KTR’s PA and PRO. Police booked Krishank after he posted an allegedly controversial content on X about that case. He is the BRS social media convener and a former corporation chairman.
BRS leaders posted videos on social media alleging that police in large numbers was deployed outside Krishank’s residence from 5 am on Friday. They also alleged that police officials broke the locks on grills in the house premises and arrested Krishank. After the Manne Krishank arrest, police took him to the Central Crime Station.
The BRS legal cell team reached Krishank’s residence after learning about the police presence. Party workers also began arriving there in large numbers. As a result, the situation around the residence became politically charged.
Manne Krishank arrest adds to earlier social media cases
Krishank has been active as the BRS social media convener. Police had also registered cases against him earlier over social media posts. The latest case again involved content posted on social media.
The BRS alleged that the government was using the police machinery to suppress opposition leaders’ voices. The party criticised the registration of cases against its leaders over social media posts. It also alleged that leaders were repeatedly being made to visit police stations over such cases.
