Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, accusing it of deceiving the people of Telangana. Speaking at a massive gathering in Jubilee Hills, he said the time had come for voters to hold the Congress accountable for broken promises.

KTR declared that BRS’s Jaitra Yatra would begin from Jubilee Hills, marking the party’s renewed fight against what he called the Congress government’s failures and double standards.

Addressing the crowd, KTR listed key welfare schemes from KCR’s tenure. These included 20,000 litres of free drinking water, ₹5 meals, Basthi Dawakhanas, enhanced pensions, Ramzan Thofas, and removal of property tax in select areas. “KCR treated the needy like family. But Congress has drowned Telangana in debt,” he said.

He also pointed to major infrastructure upgrades under BRS, such as the Shaikpet flyover, and credited Hyderabad’s development to the party’s consistent urban governance.

KTR criticised the Congress for deceiving farmers, women, and the older people. “The same people who promised gold, scooters, and ₹2,500 monthly for every woman have delivered none of it,” he said.

“Show them your pending dues card,” KTR tells voters

Mocking the Congress manifesto, KTR said it was treated like a “guarantee card” instead of a commitment. He accused CM Revanth Reddy of focusing on political attacks rather than governance. “In two years, he hasn’t laid even a single foundation stone in Hyderabad,” he noted.

He also criticised Congress’s women’s free bus travel scheme. “They doubled fares for men while pretending to empower women. They give with one hand and take back with the other,” he said.

Calling on Jubilee Hills residents to reject false promises, he urged them to demand answers. “When Congress leaders visit your doorstep, show them your pending dues card,” he said.

Former BJP leaders join BRS

During the event, KTR inducted several leaders into the party, including former BJP Shaikpet Division President Thota Mahesh. Draping the pink scarf around them, he said BRS would continue to fight for people’s welfare.
