KTR calls HILTP policy a ‘Rs 5 lakh crore land scam’

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday alleged that the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy (HILTP), recently approved by the Congress government, amounts to a “Rs 5 lakh crore land scam” designed to transfer public land to private hands.

Addressing a press briefing, KTR accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of facilitating the conversion of over 9,292 acres in 20 industrial zones within the Outer Ring Road limits for private real estate interests. He claimed the policy disguises profiteering as urban development, while enabling builders to acquire government lands at just 30% of the registration value.

KTR alleges misuse of industrial land for private profits

According to KTR, these lands were originally earmarked for industries and public employment but are now being redirected for commercial gain. He warned that Hyderabad already faces shortages of parks, housing, and burial grounds, yet the government is attempting to sell 9,300 acres of prime land.

He also alleged that the Congress government is crafting the policy to serve the future financial interests of the Chief Minister’s family. Calling it “an unprecedented land exploitation plan,” KTR demanded public resistance and instructed party cadres and student leaders to launch mass awareness campaigns across Telangana.
