Telangana Assembly set to debate HILT policy amendments today

Hyderabad: The Telangana Assembly is scheduled to take up a key discussion today on the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transfer (HILT) policy, with proposed amendments expected to draw sharp focus.

The debate will centre on how the HILT policy affects industrial growth and land-use rules in the state. Legislators are likely to raise concerns over land use in industrial parks, conversion fees, and issues flagged by companies, officials said.

The state government issued Government Order No. 27 on November 22 last year to implement the HILT policy. However, reliable sources said officials have not received any land-use conversion applications even after 45 days.

HILT policy amendments to dominate Assembly discussion

Industrialists have raised concerns over the lack of clarity on infrastructure support for new industries outside the Outer Ring Road (ORR). They said the government has not explained how it plans to create a suitable business environment beyond the ORR.

At recent industry meetings, several entrepreneurs said unclear guidelines have left them hesitant about fresh investments. Consequently, the Assembly discussion scheduled for today has drawn close attention from industrial circles.

Industry representatives are closely watching whether the government will announce new guidelines during the debate. Political sources said the government could make a key statement after the discussion.
