KTR accuses Revanth Reddy of bulldozer raj in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao on Monday attended a Jubilee Hills workers’ meeting at Telangana Bhavan, where he accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of unleashing a “bulldozer raj” against the people with low-income. He questioned why the government demolished houses in Gajularamaram on a Sunday, despite the High Court’s earlier direction not to conduct demolitions on holidays.

KTR warned that bulldozers could next reach Borabanda basti in Jubilee Hills. He said Congress had effectively licensed bulldozer politics by seeking votes while demolishing homes. The government, he alleged, even razed the house of a BRS worker named Sardar. He pledged to rebuild it and called Congress “a movie that has ended” after two years of failure.

The BRS leader argued that bulldozers targeted poor families while sparing the powerful. Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Vivek, along with Congress leader K. V. P. Ramachandra Rao, allegedly constructed houses on government land and lakes such as Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar but faced no action. Bulldozers, he stressed, rolled only on weekends and only against the people with low-income.

According to him, Hyderabad’s growth slowed under Congress after BRS had developed the city with 42 flyovers. “Rahul Gandhi cannot see this development,” he remarked. KTR also claimed that Revanth hoisted the Congress flag but followed a BJP agenda. The same BJP that opposed bulldozers elsewhere now encouraged Congress to use them in Hyderabad. “Both BJP and Congress are one and the same,” he declared.

BJP and Congress share blame, says KTR

KTR accused the ruling parties of dividing Hindus and Muslims. In contrast, he noted, no communal riot occurred in Telangana during K. Chandrashekar Rao’s 10-year rule. The BRS leader added that the governance momentum that lasted a decade had now stopped under Congress.

He mocked the Chief Minister’s remarks on state finances, calling him the first to speak irresponsibly about debt. Broken promises, such as KCR’s gold-for-letter scheme, also figured in his speech. He reminded supporters that Revanth dismissed public questions with the retort, “Will you eat me alive?”

In his view, an honest Chief Minister would never respond in that manner. He underlined that the BRS government had continued welfare schemes even during the coronavirus pandemic, unlike the present regime. KTR further alleged that Congress leaders carried scissors in their pockets to inaugurate BRS projects while amassing ill-gotten money.

He insisted that people’s anger was rising and warned, “If Jubilee Hills resists, Revanth will learn a lesson.” Looking ahead, he urged voters to strengthen BRS in the upcoming Jubilee Hills and GHMC elections. He recalled that the party won by 4,700 votes last time and said the margin should cross 10,000 this time. He also warned that Congress would stop free drinking water supply in Hyderabad after the civic polls.
