Hyderabad: Telangana Roads and Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy intensified his door-to-door campaign in Rahmathnagar division on Thursday, urging residents to support Congress candidate Naveen Yadav in the Jubilee Hills by-election.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy says Hyderabad’s growth happened under Congress rule
Speaking during the campaign, the Minister said that Hyderabad’s overall development took shape only during Congress governments. Meanwhile, he interacted warmly with residents, appealing to them to vote for the Congress hand symbol to ensure continued welfare and development. The campaign drew enthusiastic crowds, with youth and locals eagerly taking selfies with the Minister.
Komatireddy was joined by Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah, and several local Congress leaders. Together, they moved through multiple bastis, explaining how a Congress victory would directly benefit local residents. “Congress stands for welfare and inclusive progress it’s the only party that truly protects the people with low-income,” he told residents. Moreover, he assured that all civic issues would be resolved under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership.
“Congress transformed Hyderabad into a global city”
Addressing the media, Komatireddy said Hyderabad’s IT and infrastructure boom began under Congress rule. “If lakhs of IT professionals have jobs today, it’s because Congress built that foundation. We developed the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Outer Ring Road, and strengthened IT and Pharma sectors that made Hyderabad a global hub,” he said.
However, he criticised BRS leaders for claiming credit for smaller projects. “They boast of small flyovers, but during Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s tenure, Congress built the 14-km-long PVNR Expressway equal to 50 of their flyovers,” he remarked. Consequently, he accused BRS of betraying public interest by selling the ₹1 lakh crore ORR asset for just ₹7,000 crore before elections.
In addition, Komatireddy revealed that the Congress government was preparing to launch the ₹30,000 crore Regional Ring Road project by February 2026. The plan also includes radial roads linking ORR and RRR to enhance city connectivity. Furthermore, he pointed out that the rapid rise in land values in Kokapet and Rajendranagar proved the government’s effective urban policies. “Plots worth ₹200 crore per acre show the success of our vision. The upcoming Future City will make Hyderabad one of the most advanced cities globally,” he added.
“KCR didn’t attend Assembly how will he come back to power?”
Later, Komatireddy slammed BRS for spreading emotional propaganda in Jubilee Hills. “After sensing defeat, they are resorting to sentiment-based politics. The Congress government has been in power for less than two years and has three more to go. Yet KTR claims KCR will return in two years — how can a leader who doesn’t even attend the Assembly return to power?” he asked.
Further, he said KTR’s statements reflected frustration. “He should first answer his sister Kavitha’s questions. The Kalvakuntla family looted in the name of Kaleshwaram in their first term and Dharani in the second. Now, they’re fighting among themselves over the spoils,” Komatireddy said.
Therefore, urging voters not to believe false claims, he said, “Those who fall for their lies will regret later. Think carefully — we will bring double the development to Jubilee Hills that we’ve already achieved in Cantonment.”
Finally, the Minister’s campaign has boosted the morale of Congress workers in Jubilee Hills, thereby reinforcing confidence in a strong win for Naveen Yadav.
