KCR says Gandhi’s ideals inspired Telangana statehood movement

Hyderabad: BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao said Mahatma Gandhi’s peaceful democratic methods inspired him during the Telangana statehood movement. KCR made the remarks while paying tribute to Gandhi on Gandhi Jayanti.

Rao said Gandhi’s Satyagraha approach to securing democratic rights remained relevant to the younger generation. He recalled the importance of peaceful action while pursuing legitimate public demands.

Furthermore, the BRS chief said Gandhi’s life offered lessons for leaders working for people’s aspirations. He stressed the need for a broad outlook while developing strategies for movements against governments.

He also called for bringing together oppressed sections and strengthening unity among different groups through peaceful movements. In addition, he said leaders should spread their ideas while building collective support.

Meanwhile, Rao recalled his own role in the Telangana statehood movement. He said Gandhi’s influence remained part of the approach he followed despite the difficulties he faced during the struggle.

The BRS chief also urged people to reject hate-filled speeches and vindictive attitudes. Instead, he called for governance that promotes peace and brotherhood among people.

According to Rao, peaceful action and social harmony would constitute a meaningful tribute to Gandhi. He also stressed the need for democratic methods while pursuing public aspirations.

On Gandhi Jayanti, KCR reiterated his call for peace, brotherhood and democratic engagement.
