Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reviewed the school breakfast scheme with Hare Krishna Foundation representatives at his Jubilee Hills residence. The meeting also covered agreements with two companies to support centralised community kitchens.
First, Junna Solar Systems Private Limited and Chain Labs India Private Limited signed agreements with the foundation. The companies agreed to support breakfast for government school students. They also backed modern centralised community kitchens in Nagarkurnool and Vikarabad.
Junna Solar Systems CMD Shekhar Reddy and CEO Anil Babu handed ₹5.17 crore to the Hare Krishna Foundation for the Nagarkurnool kitchen. Similarly, Chain Labs India representative Samantha Day and vice-president Bugatha Santhosh Kumar handed ₹4 crore for the Vikarabad facility.
School breakfast scheme gets directions on quality and monitoring
During the meeting, Revanth Reddy congratulated the companies for their financial support. He directed officials to maintain individual records for government school students, including their physical growth and academic progress.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister asked officials to use apps to calculate the calorie content of food served to students. He said breakfast would help students reach schools on time. At the same time, he stressed strict checks on food quality.
Revanth Reddy also directed officials to prepare breakfast according to local food habits in different regions. In addition, he said authorities would connect the central kitchens to the Command Control Centre.
The Chief Minister described the programme as a long-term initiative. Therefore, he asked officials to maintain high standards at every stage. He also set November 30 as the deadline for completing the central kitchens.
Subsequently, the state planned to inaugurate all the central kitchens on December 9. Revanth Reddy also directed officials to arrange visits for students to the kitchen facilities.
Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Rajya Sabha member Vem Narender Reddy, CM Principal Secretary Sridhar and Hare Krishna Foundation representative Satya Gaura Chandra Das Swamiji attended the meeting.
