Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha on Monday announced that her organisation will contest the 2029 Assembly elections. She stated that Jagruthi’s focus remains on working among the people regardless of political outcomes.
Speaking at a press meet during the Jagruthi Janam Bata in Jogulamba Gadwal, Kavitha said she stayed connected with the public through the “Mana Ooru – Mana MP” campaign during her tenure in Parliament. She blamed her political defeat on internal conspiracies within her former party. Kavitha also clarified that she would not return to the BRS, despite being made an MLC against her wishes.
Literacy, education, and neglect in Gadwal
Kavitha raised concerns over low literacy levels in Gadwal, especially among women. She pointed out that while national literacy hovers near 80%, female literacy in Ketheddoddi mandal is just 23%. She questioned the lack of progress despite decades of rule by the same political family. Furthermore, she urged the Chief Minister to implement special measures for women’s education.
Sand mining and infrastructure damage
She sharply criticised the condition of roads in the district, attributing much of the damage to unchecked sand mining. Kavitha alleged that such illegal activities were harming public infrastructure and creating safety hazards, and demanded immediate corrective action. “If this is happening without the Chief Minister’s knowledge, it must be stopped at once,” she said.
Irrigation projects underused
On irrigation, Kavitha said that schemes like Tummilla, RDS, and Nettampadu remained underutilised due to negligence. She stressed the importance of making full use of RDS waters. Kavitha then proposed actionable measures to boost irrigation efficiency in the region.
