Hyderabad: BRS MLC and Telangana Jagruti president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Sunday demanded that the State government establish an Erukala Corporation with a ₹500 crore budget, in line with promises made by the Congress during the assembly elections. She called on all political parties to ensure fair representation and opportunities for the Erukala community in the upcoming local body elections.
Speaking at the Komuram Bheem statue on Tank Bund during Ekalavya’s birth anniversary tribute, Kavitha criticised the Congress government for failing to complete the Ekalavya building initiated by former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. She urged that the project be finished quickly.
Kavitha alleged that the Congress administration had neglected the Erukala Empowerment Scheme, which she said was aimed at improving the lives of 50,000 Erukala families with a ₹60 crore allocation. She maintained that she had repeatedly raised the matter in the Legislative Council, but the government had ignored it.

The BRS leader also accused the previous governor of blocking Kurra Satyanarayana, an Erukala leader, from being nominated as MLC during the BRS regime. She said the community deserved greater political participation, stressing that Ekalavya’s historic sacrifice stood as an inspiration to all oppressed groups.
She added that efforts would be made to install a statue of Ekalavya on the Tank Bund to honour his legacy.
Kavitha later attended the 51st anniversary celebrations of the Golkonda Sri Jagadambaki Yellamma Temple in Jiyaguda Sabjimandi, where she took part in Bonalu festivities and performed puja at the Ammavari temple along with Gangaputra Sangam leaders and activists.
