Hyderabad: Karimnagar collectorate should function as an effective platform for resolving the problems of poor and vulnerable people, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said. He made the remarks while inaugurating the newly constructed Karimnagar collectorate building.
Union Minister Bandi Sanjay and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar accompanied the Chief Minister at the inauguration. Later, Revanth Reddy unveiled a newly installed Telangana Talli statue on the collectorate premises.
Addressing a press conference afterwards, the Chief Minister spoke about government administration, employee responsibilities and Centre-State relations. He stressed the role of government staff in delivering welfare schemes and public services.
Revanth Reddy said government employees were key representatives of the administration. He urged officials to treat people approaching the Karimnagar collectorate or other government offices for assistance as members of their own families.
According to the Chief Minister, around 10.5 lakh government employees serve nearly four crore people across Telangana. He said serving 97 per cent of the population with around three per cent of employees was demanding work.
Karimnagar collectorate to focus on public grievances
Revanth Reddy said the government’s reputation, whether positive or negative, depended largely on the performance of its employees. He warned that negligence towards public grievances could create an impression that the government was not functioning properly.
The Chief Minister said the government was moving the state forward with everyone’s cooperation. However, he noted that several challenges remained and required continuous efforts to provide services and resolve public problems.
Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy said Telangana had successfully secured Rs 810 crore from the Centre under the Urban Challenge Fund. He said the state government had no hesitation in publicly appreciating the Centre when it supported Telangana’s development.
The Chief Minister called for a healthy approach to Centre-State relations. He said political differences and rivalries should remain limited to election periods.
At other times, he said the Centre and the state should cooperate and work together for Telangana’s development.
