Hyderabad: Telangana Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao questioned BRS leaders over their claims on Palamuru project works. He alleged that the previous government left several major components incomplete despite heavy spending.
The minister said the Palamuru-Rangareddy project needed nearly Rs 1 lakh crore for full completion. He alleged that the previous BRS government spent Rs 28,000 crore but failed to complete critical works.
Jupally Krishna Rao inspected the Palamuru-Rangareddy and Kalwakurthy irrigation projects on Tuesday. MLAs Dr Vamshi Krishna, Dr Rajesh and department officials accompanied him.
The inspection took place ahead of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s visit to the undivided Palamuru district projects on May 30 and 31.
Speaking at the Narlapur PRLIS pump house, the minister challenged BRS leaders to prove their claim that they completed 90 percent of the project works.
Palamuru project works remain incomplete, says minister
Jupally said several canal works between reservoirs remained unfinished. He also claimed that the previous government installed only one motor out of the proposed nine motors at Narlapur.
The minister said the current government had now installed three motors. He added that officials still needed to install five more motors.
Jupally further alleged that the previous government ignored land acquisition for distributary canals. He said authorities also failed to complete canal excavation works.
The minister accused BRS leaders of making false claims about the Palamuru project works. He questioned how the party leaders claimed 90 percent completion despite pending works.
According to Jupally, the government must complete additional canal works and distributary canals. He said officials also needed to install five more motors to utilise 90 TMC of net water allocation.
The minister added that some pending works disrupted Mission Bhagiratha water supply operations. However, he said the government would resolve the issues and provide irrigation water to 4.6 lakh acres in Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy districts.
