Hyderabad: The Congress party’s victory in the Jubilee Hills by-election has delivered a major boost to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s leadership, solidifying internal party confidence midway through his tenure.
Congress candidate Naveen Yadav won decisively, marking the party’s second bypoll win after its earlier success in Secunderabad Cantonment. The by-election was necessitated by the death of sitting BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath. The BRS fielded his wife, Maganti Sunitha, in a bid to retain the seat.
Revanth Reddy, who campaigned personally in the constituency along with senior leaders, had framed the election as a referendum on his governance. The result is being seen as an endorsement of his leadership and the government’s direction.
Since taking office, Revanth Reddy has focused on development programs, governance reforms, and fulfilling electoral guarantees. Despite grappling with financial constraints and legacy issues from the previous administration, he has continued to push for administrative momentum.
Political analysts suggest the Jubilee Hills result reflects growing public approval of Revanth’s leadership style. With the possibility of further by-elections in constituencies vacated by defected BRS MLAs, including a potential contest in Khairatabad, Revanth may soon face another political test.
