Hyderabad: The Election Commission on Tuesday directed officials to take strict action against MLAs and MLCs who violated the Model Code of Conduct during the Jubilee Hills bypoll.
District Election Officer RV Karnan said police had registered three FIRs against non-local public representatives who breached election rules. These leaders were seen moving around polling booths, defying restrictions.
Karnan confirmed that officials had identified several legislators involved in the violations. He added that authorities would take appropriate legal action.
As polling neared closure, he appealed to voters to come forward and cast their votes without delay.
