Jeevan Reddy calls BRS entry turning point, cites Congress discrimination

Hyderabad: Senior leader Jeevan Reddy described his BRS entry as a turning point and said discrimination in the Congress forced his decision.

At the Praja Ashirvada Sabha in Jagtial, held in the presence of K. Chandrashekhar Rao, the leader spoke about mental distress over the last 20 months. Despite serving the Congress for four decades, he said he found it difficult to continue in the party.

Clarifying his stand, the senior leader said the move was not driven by a desire for power or posts. Instead, dissatisfaction with the treatment he received pushed him to exit. During an emotional address, he explained the reasons behind the decision.

Recalling his association with Chandrashekhar Rao since student days, the former minister said KCR had invited him earlier to join the party. However, party discipline kept him in Congress at that time.

Joining BRS now offers an opportunity to work with KCR, he said. He credited KCR for achieving Telangana after a long struggle.

On governance, criticism targeted the state government for sidelining earlier welfare schemes. The Congress, he said, failed to implement its election promises.

Turning to specific issues, the remarks focused on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and delays in Medigadda pillar repairs. He also pointed to the SLBC tunnel collapse and said authorities failed to respond after eight workers died.

KCR played a key role in forming Jagtial district, he said. He also highlighted the establishment of a medical college and increased reservations for tribal communities.
