Hyderabad: Funeral prayers for the Hyderabad Umrah pilgrims who died in the Madinah bus accident will take place after the Dhuhr prayer on Saturday, November 22. Shaykh Abdul Bari al-Thubaiti will lead the Salat al-Janazah at the Prophet’s Mosque. After the prayer, officials will move the bodies for burial at Jannatul Baqi, one of Islam’s holiest cemeteries. Meanwhile, community groups in Hyderabad have continued to coordinate with families.
The accident killed at least 45 pilgrims, including ten children. Their bus struck a diesel tanker near Madinah and caught fire in the early hours of Monday. Consequently, most families in Asif Nagar, Jhirra, Mehdipatnam and Tolichowki have been seeking updates as formalities progressed in Saudi Arabia. In addition, officials have provided travel and procedural guidance to relatives.
The group had flown to Jeddah on November 9. Eight pilgrims later separated from the main batch, with four travelling to Madinah by car and four staying back in Makkah. However, the remaining 46 boarded the bus that eventually crashed. Forty-five died at the spot. Only one pilgrim, Abdul Shoeb Mohammed, survived, and doctors in a Saudi hospital ICU are monitoring his critical condition. Furthermore, local leaders said they are assisting his family with information.
