Hyderabad CP V.C. Sajjanar Holds First Review, Announces ‘Extra Mile Reward’ for Public-Friendly Policing

Hyderabad: In his inaugural address as the Commissioner of Police for Hyderabad City, Sri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, on Saturday held a comprehensive video conference with officers across all units, including Law & Order and Traffic. He acknowledged the officers’ efforts over the past six months and urged them to continue upholding the department’s legacy with professionalism and public-oriented policing.

Upholding standards and building trust

Commending the dedication of the force, CP Sajjanar remarked, “Hyderabad Commissionerate is one of the oldest and most reputed in India. We must work in harmony and professionalism to maintain its legacy.” He emphasized that officers must strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), treat the public with respect, and respond promptly to complaints. According to him, the department’s image depends on individual conduct.

To maintain discipline, he made it clear that any negligence or abuse of power will result in strict action. At the same time, he assured that those who perform well would receive due recognition.

Introducing ‘Extra Mile Reward’ for exemplary service

In a major move to promote a humanitarian policing culture, CP Sajjanar announced the launch of the ‘Extra Mile Reward’. Under this initiative, personnel who go beyond their official duties and earn public appreciation will be honored every Saturday with certificates and rewards.

Drive against drugs, crimes against women, and traffic congestion

Turning to law enforcement priorities, he called for an intensified campaign to make Hyderabad a drug-free city. “Drug crimes must be pursued rigorously to ensure the culprits are punished. Harassers of women and children should know they will face swift legal action,” he warned. He instructed She Teams to remain proactive and asked traffic police to develop innovative strategies for easing urban travel.

Officer wellness and tech-driven policing

Recognizing the toll of the job, Sajjanar encouraged personnel to prioritize their health and mental well-being. He also welcomed direct suggestions from the force to improve policing outcomes. Moreover, he urged teams to maximize the use of technology and available resources for solving more cases efficiently.
